Regional Wrap Up

The Lady Bees finished 6th place at the Div I Regional Championship at Austintown Fitch. The 4x800 Relay finished 6th place (9:40). Morgan Krejci was 12th in pole vault and the 4x200 relay finished 10th. Becki Famurewa captured 2nd place in both the shot put and discus as she qualified to the State meet for the second straight year. Veronica Thompson broke her own school record in the 400m (57.04) as she finished 3rd place and advances to the state meet. Veronica was also part of the school record breaking 4x400 along with Ellen Prendergast, Julia D'Agostino, and Tabitha Jacofsky which qualified to the state meet with their 2nd place finish (3:56.17).

On Friday night, the Lady Bees competed in the Div I district finals at Ravenna. The lady faced some very tough competition from Northeast Ohio but showed their strength and determination as 10 individuals qualified for Regionals. The Lady Bees finished 4th overall in the team standings. Regional qualifiers include:
4x800: Megan Beaver, Jill Bajasouzian, Lauren Greenlee, and Tabitha Jacofsky

Monday: PRACTICE IS MANDATORY! You can choose to practice at 3:00 or 5:00.
If you are running at Districts, you must be at practice. If you are not at practice, or do not have a Dr's note documenting illness then you will not compete at Districts.

If you are not competing at Districts, please turn in your uniform on Monday from 3:00-3:30. Put your uniform jersey in a ziploc bag with the number on the bag and turn into Coach Crawford. Warm ups will be collected as well. There is is no practice for runner who are not competing at districts. We will see you at the banquet on June 1st.

Lady Bees Finish 2nd at SWC

It was a very exciting day with same great races on Friday night at the SWC Championships. Going into the final event, the Lady Bees were in third place behind Avon Lake. The 4 x 400 team had a huge challenge as they needed to gain 8 points more than Avon Lake in that event. It was the race of the night but the Bees managed to pull off a victory (10 pts) in the 4x400 and Avon Lake finished 6th (1 pt) which gave the Lady Bees enough points to pull off the SWC 2nd place finish. There were several PR's and season's best as the girls showed their strength, perseverance, and focus. SWC event champions included Becki Famurewa in the shot put (meet record, tied school record), 4 x 200 (Waugaman, Prendergast, D'Agositno, Thompson), 4 x 400 (Prendergast, D'Agositno, Thompson, Jacofsky), and the 4 x 800 (M. Beaver, Bajaksouzian, Greenlee, and Jacofsky).

Lady Bees have great start on day 1 of SWC

The Lady Bees had a strong start the the SWC Chapmionship tonight at Westlake. Only three events were finals and the girls won two of those events. The 4x800 ran a season's best of 9:35 as they captured first place. The relay included Megan Beaver, Jill Bajaksouzian, Lauren Greenlee and Tabitha Jacofsky. Becki Famurewa also captured a win in the shot put. Her throw of 44' 3.25" broke the meet record and also tied her school record (she set last year). Ashley King also scored in the shot put with a personal best throw of 31" 4.25".

Several athletes advanced onto the running events for Friday. In the 100m Julia D'Agostino and Morgan Krejci both qualified. All three Lady Bees advanced in the 400: Veronica Thompson, Ellen Prendergast, and Allison Labyk. In the 200m Veronica Thompson advanced. The 300m hurdlers all advanced to the finals as well. The hurdlers are Megan Beaver, Erin Beaver, and Jasmine Waugaman.

The time schedule that was previously posted for Friday's SWC Meet has been revised. The running events will begin at 5:30 with the 100 Hurdles.

SWC Conference Championship Week

It's hard to believe that this track season is wrapping up. This week is the most important week for the team. You really need to have SPF....Strength-Perseverance-Focus.

This weeks workouts will be posted in the locker room since my computer refuses to upload the file. Sorry!

Monday- Team mtg before practice. Hand out medals, discuss goals, this week meets, etc. NO LIFTING!

Tuesday- Normal practice. If you need a pool workout, please let Coach G know.

Girls Win Jackson Twilight Meet

The Lady Bees captured the team championship at the Jackson Twilight Meet on Friday night. Senior Becki Famurewa led the way winning both the shot put and discus. Once again, Becki broke her own school record in the discus with her throw of 147'. Other event winners included Tabitha Jacofsky in the 800 (2:20), Veronica Thompson in the 400m (58.7)and 200m (26.7), and the 4x400 relay of Prendergast, D'Agostino, Jacofsky, and Thompson (4:05.8). Bees Finish Dual Meet Season with a Perfect 5-0 Record

Tonight the Lady Bees competed in their last dual meet of the season. The girls pulled off the victory which gives them a perfect dual meet record for this season.
The Lady Bees just edged out the Eagles 72-61. Event winners included: 4x 800 relay (10:42-Squires,Siwik,Vasic,Beaver), 4x200 relay (1:49.9-Jacofsky, Prendergast, D'Agostino, Thompson), Greenlee in the 1600 (5:29), Thompson in the 400 (59.5), Megan Beaver in the 300 hurdles (50.32), and Famurewa in both the shot put (40' 2") and the discus (146' 4"). Becki's discus throw breaks her own school record by over 3 feet!

The Lady Bees will be back on the track on Friday night at the Jackson Twilight Meet.
