Week of March 31st

Now that Spring Break is over and meets are starting, the track schedule will become pretty routine with meets on Wednesdays & Saturdays.  Everyone competes on the Wednesday meets.  If there is an event you would like to try, let a coach know.  We will try a everyone in a few different events over the next few weeks.  Typically the weekend meets have very limited entries and not all athletes compete.  This weekend, they are permitting more entries than normal so even if you typically don't compete on weekend meets there is a chance you maybe.  Field events are still limited to 3 for this Sat....sorry!

Monday:  Practice 3:15-5:15  Cookie order forms and $ are due.

Tuesday:  Practice 3:15-5:15

Wednesday:  Dual Meet @ North Royalton
Bus leaves at 3:00 from the track.
Field events begin at approx 4:15.
Running event begin at approx 4:30.
Estimated return  8:30?

If your paperwork and pay to play is not turned in you cannot compete until it is take care of.

ADDED MEET INFO:
For field events we will do 3 attempts and then finals (1 more than scoring, so either 7 finalists or 9 - depends on numbers).

We see how numbers are for pole vault before we decide if we will separate boys and girls.

HJ - girls open at 4' 0" and go up by 2"...boys open at 5' 0" and go up by 2"... (girls first)

PV - girls at 6' 0" and go up by 6"....boys at 8' 0" and go up by 6"...the boys is open to suggestion.

LJ and discus - boys first and have 2 flights then finals.  After flight 1 is done we'll open up the pit for 15 min for flight 2 to get run-throughs.  Girls will probably be one big flight.

The meets start at 1pm (arrive by12:30) and are expected to last 3-31/2 hours.  If there are two girls who want to split a shift, they would just need to know in advance.

SATURDAYS MEET

Due to current track & field conditions and the forecasted weather, the dual meet with St. Joseph Academy for this Saturday is cancelled.  There is still practice on Friday (10:00-Noon).

SPRING BREAKERS

Here are the workouts for next week (Spring Break).  If you are missing practice please get your workout in.  Don't let your hard work that you have put in thus far go to waste next week! If you are leaving before next Monday, visit the workout tab to see this weeks workouts.



March 24:  Distance Spring Breakers
Workouts for 3/22-3/30 For missing spring break athletes:
You can mix up the days at your convenience but try to get the hard days in as a priority.

Saturday/Sunday - Run long run.  50-60 minutes.

Monday, 3/24 - Run a 10 minute warm up and then do 4 sets of surges at levels 7,8,9 for a minute each then level 6 for a minute of recovery. Finish with 4X20 seconds fast with full recovery between.
Cool down another 8-10 minutes.

Tuesday, 3/25 - Recovery run 40-50 minutes.

Wednesday, 3/26 - 10 minutes warming up, then start 45 second bursts, fast, followed by 1:30 easy.  Repeat for a 20 minute run, follow the sprints with a 5-8 minutes cooldown.


Thursday, 3/27 - Recovery for 40 minutes.


Friday, 3/28 -  Run a building warm up for 10 minutes, then run 20 minutes hard, cool-down for another 8-10 minutes.


Saturday/Sunday - Long run 50-60 minutes.

REPOSTING: NEW WAY TO STAY UP TO DATE: REMIND

If you would like text alerts for changes to practice, meet changes, or other important track information please sign up for REMIND alerts.  You can sign up to receive texts or emails.  
These texts will only be changes that happen (such as practice or meet cancellation, reminders of bus times, etc) and will not replace the weekly blog.

A FEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

*  Cookie Dough Fundraiser.  Order forms were handed out last week.  SELL SELL SELL!  If you need a form, see Coach Mauceri.

*  Due to recent left of items, we encourage all athletes to keep valuable/personal items locked up during practice.  Next week when the locker room is open, you may pick a locker for the season and bring a lock.  For the rest of this week, we will unlock the storage closet (in athletic hallway) at the beginning of practice to store your bags/bookbags/etc.  We will unlock it at the end of practice.  Hopefully this will help ensure the safety of you belongings.  See Coach Slattery at the beginning of practice to lock your things away. 

*  Next week..Spring Break Week....we will meet at the STADIUM LOCKER ROOM for track practice.  Spring Break practices are next week Mon-Fri 10:00 AM until NOON.

Track Meetings on Tuesday

There are TWO meetings this Tuesday night.  Both meetings are in the LGI Room.

6:00-7:00 Bees Invite Planning meeting.  We need lots of volunteers!  Even if you can't work at the meet, we need some help organizing and planning for the meet. 

7:00-8:00  Track Informational Meeting.  Parents and athletes are welcome.  This meeting is not mandatory but if you are new to track or have questions about meets, who competes, how to earn a varsity letter, etc.  you should attend!
