The OHSAA State Championship was held this past weekend at the Jesse Owen Stadium in Columbus and the Lady Bees showed up ready to compete. The girls competed in 4 races and came away with 4 new school records and 4 trips to the podium.
The Lady Bees ran in what some are calling the BEST RACE EVER at the state meet in the 4 x 800 relay. A 2 mile distance race all came down to less than .6 second as 4 teams sprinted side by side the last 50 meters to the finish line. The senior group of Veronica Thompson, Jill Bajaksouzian, Lauren Greenlee, and Megan Beaver finished in 4th with a new school record of 9:08.67. That time puts them as the 6th fastest ever in Ohio history.
On Saturday, Veronica Thompson broke her school record in the 400m as she placed 4th with a time of 56.41. Megan Beaver also broke the school record in the 800m running 2:12.31, taking 4th place.
The 4x400 relay headed into Saturday with the fastest time from Friday's prelims (3:53) and ran the best time in school history to capture the runner-up spot. The relay was led off by freshman Rachel Kotchman and also included seniors Ellen Prendergast, Megan Beaver, and Veronica Thompson. The ladies ran 3:51.01 and again in a very close race at the finish as the winning ream from Reyonldsburg was less than 1 second ahead.
Congratulations to the Lady Bees on your AMAZING accomplishments this weekend!
